Burns Bay Big Band (BBBB) is sometimes the first introduction to jazz for our LCCB musicians and for this reason is considered a training ground for our budding jazz musicians. Nevertheless, there are many experienced musicians amongst the band and this adds to our mentorship approach.
The Band’s emphasis is on developing the language of jazz and growing as musicians. We welcome all woodwind, brass and rhythm section players of all ages and backgrounds. BBBB is directed by Ray Cassar.
BBBB obviously play jazz however we are not bound by any strict conventions. BBBB has a wide repertoire of different musical styles including Big Band standards, Latin, Classic Rock and other popular tunes, performed with a jazz leaning.
BBBB is a Lane Cove local community band. We perform at community events, festivals and citizenship ceremonies. We love to perform and hope to be seen more in the community and at jazz festivals in an around NSW.
The Band is open to all ages and experience and invite all enthusiastic musicians to join. Anyone eager to develop and explore music in jazz is welcome.
Rehearsals
When: The Band rehearses from 6:45pm to 8:45pm each Sunday during the public school terms.
Where: In our new Band Room – The Waterview Community Centre – 314 Burns Bay Road, Lane Cove.
